Creating Your Character

Ok, so you've looked around and decided you wanted to create a character and join the game.  That is cool, here's how you go about it and a few notes, examples, ect. to give you hand and help assure that your character will be accepted.  So please read on, and if you've played in a similar game before, just scroll on down for the link to the character sheet.

First rule on creating a character or applying for one is really simple, read the rules.  This will give you an idea on exactly what are rules are and should help you keep from making characters we reject, not because they suck, but because they violate a multitude of rules.

The next step is actually deciding on what character you'd like.  For this purpose their are three different styles of approach.  Do you want to play a series character that no one else is playing?  Do you want to play a character that is on the adoption page?  Or, finally, and the most used method, do you want to play a character that comes straight from your own mind?  Below is a listing of the various character types discussed in this file.

Creating an Untaken Series Character

First and foremost you need to check the profiles page or the list at the bottom of this section to see which characters from the Sailor Moon series are not taken.  Next you should go to the profile page and read the profiles for each of the characters there from that particular branch of chars.  In some cases there haven't been any taken from that group of characters so you don't have to do anything on the profile page, except maybe read a few key characters to get an ideal for the setting.

After that you can sit down and write up the profile for the character.  When creating the profile keep a few things in mind such as, how powerful was he in the anime, do I know this character, is their actual information on the 'net that has some of the info for this character, is he going to be exactly the same as the anime, and most importantly since the character was most likely killed off or turned good, or left how did they come back, turn back, and what have they been doing since?

All of the above are things to keep in mind when doing a series character's profile.  I of course expect you to remain true to the orginal character, but you are more than welcome to modify the character to an extent.  I mean you may want to elaborate on the character's orginal personality, give them a past before they showed up in the anime, or give them a secret identity that they use to avoid always being under pressure from the Senshi.  Or maybe you've decided to elaborate their powers a bit, just because it is a series character though doesn't mean one can't be a bit creative with them, just don't go so hog-wild we barely recognize the character, I mean Jedite will always be arrogant to an extent, Catz/Cooan will always be concerened about her appearance, and Beryl will always be dedicated to gathering energy and destroying the Senshi.

Now that we've discussed the basics, let's move on to the listing of available series characters.  If the character has a link on their names it means that someone took the character, did the profile for them, but then left or were kicked out.  If you want to use the same profile, cool, if you want to change it, cool.  Regardless you'll have to do the writing sample.  Which brings up another quick note before we get to the untaken characters.  One of the biggest keys to the series characters application are if you can get across to me and my Co-Administrator that you understand this character and can write them well, so do a good job on them.

Available Series Characters

Sailor Starlights:  These are the Senshi of the planet Kinmoku who are sworn to protect Queen Kakyuu.  In the series they came to Earth as males, but transformed into females to fight.

Queen Kakyuu/Sailor Kakyuu
Sailor Star Fighter
Sailor Star Maker
Sailor Star Healer

The Warriors of the Dark Kingdom:  Since freeing Lavos, Lord Bentaris has considered resurrecting the other servants of the Negaverse, and possibly in time even resurrecting Lavos's mother, Queen Beryl.  For those of you applying for any of the Dark Kingdom characters I'd recommend in addition to reading the other members of the Dark Kingdom's profiles also reading Lavos, Lord Bentaris, and Orocite's profiles.

Queen Beryl--Note that the method of resurrecting this character has already been determined by the GM so please if interested e-mail me about it and I'll send you my notes on the subject.
Jedite
Kunzite

The Dark Moon Clan:  Hailing from the planet Nemesis these people have inverted, black crescent moons on their forehead and serve their leader Prince Diamond in the quest to rule the Earth.  Just a note the Ayakashi sisters are listed with their Japanese names and the DiC names in parenthesis and it is up to the individual players on how they use the names in the game, although I personally prefer the Japanese names for the Sisters, although Prisma has an interesting way about going about the DiC/Original names in her profile.

Rubeus
Cooan(Catzy)--The Sister of Fire
Beruche(Birdie)--The Sister of Ice
Karaberas(Avery)

The Deathbusters:  These were a group of individuals who used various means to try and obtain Heart Crystals and find one strong enough to allow Pharoh 90 to be summoned.  The Withces 5 used creatures called Daimon in their tasks and followed the orders of Professor Tomoe and his assistant Kaolinite.

Professor Tomoe
Kaolinite
Eudial
Mimete
Viluy
Tellu
Cyprine
Ptilol

The Dead Moon Circus:  This is a group of galactic villians who use lemures which appear similar to circus acts to attack people and conqueror the world.  They came to Earth in hopes of capturing the dream kingdom under the protection of Elios.  The Amazon Quartet will be played as either their Senshi forms or evil forms, but all four will be the either evil or good and will be deteremined by the first applicant for one of them.

Queen Neherenia
Tiger Eye
Fish Eye
Hawk Eye
VesVes/Sailor Vesta
Cere/Cere/Sailor Ceres
ParaPara/Sailor Pallas
JunJun/Sailor Juno

The Sailor Animates:  A band of former Senshi now under the control of Sailor Galaxia.  In this RPG Galaxia was defeated, but since then Lord Bentaris has done his job of intervening and bonded Chaos to her again, making the bond even stronger than before and granting Chaos the power to resurrect her Sailor Animates.

Sailor Galaxia--Senshi of the Galaxy
Sailor Iron Mouse
Sailor Lead Crow
Sailor Aluminum Siren
Sailor Lethe
Sailor Mnemosyne
Sailor Chi
Sailor Phi
Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon

These are just the core groups mind you and I'll take other series characters provided that the information is good and all.

For an example of a series character profile click here.  Mind you that this is just an example and does not have to be the profile used for the character.

Adopting a Character

Characters that are up for adoption are those characters that have either been created by myself out of boredom, are from my various fan-fics that I did up in boredom figuring that some people may not know any of the available series characters and may not want to create their own, or they were characters created and played by former players who dropped out of the game or quit and were either key to certain stories to almost require them to be put up for adoption or I found interesting enough to keep.

If you want to adopt a character just simply read the character's profile that's up for adoption and then all you have to do is e-mail me and say you want to adopt the character and then you have to do the writing sample, and that's it.  Pretty simple, and of course the characters up for adoption are just outlines on the chars and you may certaintly add or change things in the profiles to suit your individual styles, just make sure you keep the basic stuff the same.

Below is a listing of various characters up for adoption.  The adoption page has links to the profiles and a brief description of each.

Senshi and Allies

Mercury Knight
Sailor Aires
Sailor Kakyuu
Sailor Phoenix

Villians

Assassin
Dragonbane
Nightwitch
Cyberia
Gwenever
Pik
Princess Arabia
Storm--NOT X-Man either, although weather control abilities
Swordsmen
Youma Master
Wyrm

As you notice a majority of adoption characters are all fan fics, and at the moment about 80% of them are all created by me.  Why?  Well I have an overactive imangination and waaaay to many ideas for fan fics in my head.  If I had time to actually sit down and writing more than once a month I'd probally have a large volume of stories cranking out.  Anyway at * indicates that the character is from my fan fics and all and may be played, but I haven't drawn up the profile yet so you're going to have to e-mail me asking about them so I can do the profile before you can do the writing sample.  I swear I'm working as fast as I can.

Creating Your Own Character

Ah one of the most popular and fun aspects of this game is the multitude of fan created characters we recieve.  I'll tell you right now I am lienient on ideas and what-not but I do have my limitations and if a character is in no which way tied to Crystal Tokyo and the story to some extent, well I'm going to say no.  Fact is that with the large volume of characters I get I do need to be a bit picky, and I am.

One of the first rules of creating a character is to browse the profiles and make sure you either a.) don't give them over-used powers, and b.) that your concept isn't already incoporated into another character.  Also do note that by far the most harshest judged characters are the ones you create for the simple reason that they are created by you and we have to make sure you don't keep your powers to vague so that you can power-game/god-mode, ect.

The best method for creating your own characters is simply put, think before sitting down to write out the profile, or take your time.  Try to develop a complex character, and think of things such as why do they do what they do, where are they from, do they have a family, why are they here in Crystal Tokyo, and what are their goals.  After you have an idea on that stuff you can then proceed to filling out the rest.

My own character, the Imperium Knight orginally spawned from when I had little knowledge of the series and was just a character I had created to put in some pathetic stories I wrote.  Slowly as I attained more information on the Japanese version of the anime the character evolved.  Even now there are areas of the original character I'd like to change, but if I were to do so would run risk of off-setting the RPGs stories.

In total to get the Imperium Knight to the character he is today I spent not just hours, or days, but actually months just thinking about him and little things to add to his history, items to make the character more unique.  When I finally put him in the now-dead Dark Tokyo RPG he still wasn't finished, in fact even now he's not finished.  I'm always thinking of new ideas and what not to do with him.

This is what your created character will be to you if you truly put all your heart and interest into creating them.  Not to mention the fact that they also make the character more fun for you to play.  If you simply spend 20 minutes doing an entire profile that isn't the best, and is just a character you're not all that interested in you run the risk of getting bored of the character quickly.

Finally the biggest advise I can give you is to never stop developing the character.  When you first do the profile sure it might not be the best, in fact when I first created the Imperium Knight he was just a character based off of myself to make my first Sailor Moon fan fics easier to write.  It wasn't until I had written a couple stories did I go back and revise him, giving him the scarred face and missing eye he wears as a badge of honor.  Hell even in the first RPGs I had him in he was a cocky, arrogant teenager who spouted off jokes like Spider-Man in the comic books.

He always had the time travel, temporal mechanics that even now can throw me for a loop at times, and that he had been around during the Silver Millenium.  It wasn't until about a month after I created the character did I even give him the Imperium Sword, created by Queen Serenity with the power of the Imperium Silver Crystal itself.  It wouldn't be for months later until I finally hammered out his history and the fact that during that time he had been in love with Sailor Venus and after their tragic break-up had fallen for Sailor Mercury.

Even just recently did I add more complications to that part of the story.  Now before I go on a history rant, larger than this one, on the history and evolution of the Imperium Knight I want to get to the point.  Never quit thinking of things for the character.  You want to power-up your fan fic character later in the game, cool e-mail me and we can work out a good plot to justify it.  You figure out something you want to change in the history or something, cool as long as it doesn't affect the stories your character's already been in.

Remember, I try not to be a bad guy, you want to revise your profile send it my way, myself and my Co-Administrator will go over it and most likely as long as it doesn't drastically change the stories the character's been in we'll let you do it.

On that note though just remember that even if you've spent years developing a character it doesn't mean it's going to get in.  Character's that are relatives don't make it in often, those with time-travel abilities are frowned on without a very good reason, even the main baddie, Lord Bentaris has to have his minion Chronus around to time travel.

Also characters that have realationships with other characters written into the profiles when first sent, have a problem.  In this game many of the Senshi are already in love with others.  Ami/Mercury has the Imperium Knight, Raye/Mars has a love triangle going on, ect.  We don't just pitch your character though because of that.

Just also remember, be open to changes when applying to this game.  Sometimes one little thing won't fit so you may have to change that aspect, it doesn't mean that we like your character any less or it isn't a good character.

When filling out your profile there is such a thing as too little detail, but very seldom do I see too much detail.  The particular areas where I look for a fair deal of detail when allowing characters in are listed below.

Ok, now that I've talked about detail and all that's about it for created chars.  Just a few things on aliases, if you're going to create a Sailor America*shudders* at least make the character an American, and remember the U.S. recently invaded Crystal Tokyo with the Taurians so a Sailor America may not be on the Senshi's side exactly.  Remember relate your characters to their alias so that the aliases make sense.

Also I understand how hard it is to create aliases so if you need help I have a group of Senshi and Knights(kinda like the Inner Senshi, ect.) and a few ideas on doing aliases and what to use.  You don't have to use this list it's just here for your need if you need it.  To see this list click here.

To see a full example of a created character click here, and if you really want e-mail me if you want to use this char, only you'll have to do your own writing sample.

On a final note I'd just like to mention converting characters from other anime.  Basically here's the jist, if you want to use characters from other anime, cool, just modify them.  I do not want clones, the majority of the modifying will most likely be done under personality to an extent, toning down powers in many cases and the history.  I DO NOT want the history of the character from the anime it's from, but a unique history with the character being tied in smoothly to the Crystal Tokyo setting.

Also do note that mecha, firearms, power armor, robots, and cybernetics do not fit all that well in this setting and takes some creativity to incoporate them(mecha is just out of the question, same for the most part of firearms).  So give it a shot, but don't get mad if I say no.

Ok, because I'm such a good guy click here to see a semi-decent conversion of a character from another anime to this setting.  This is kinda of what I'm looking for in this people, so if you want to do a conversion read it.

Now that that is all said and done you're more than welcome to get started.  Just fill out the application in the body of an e-mail, please don't send as an attachment, and e-mail it to me.
